For a change of scene we took a drive south through Malaysia down to Malacca an interesting historical location as it was the first place to be colonised by Europeans; the Portuguese conquering it in 1511.
We stayed in the Mahkota Hotel which was excellently located as we could easily walk to all the places we wanted to visit. Here’s the view of Pulau Melaka (Malacca Island) from our hotel room.
We took a boat trip on the Malacca river. There are stunning murals painted on the buildings along the river and we also spotted some local wildlife.
After that we took a walk around the town and viewed Christ Church then up the hill to St. Paul’s Church and down the other side to the A Famosa fort.
