The boys were busy with other things so the two of us took the opportunity to drive up to London for a visit to the British Museum – to see the Chinese watercolours exhibition and have a general walk around the museum – followed by dinner in Chinatown and a bit of shopping at the Chinese supermarkets there.

Today we went north-west along the Langdale Valley following the Cumbria Way for a while before turning south back along the other side of the valley and then dropping back down to Elterwater and the welcome of the Britannia Inn.
For this walk we took a short drive to the National Trust car park at Blea Tarn and then followed the “Miles Without Stiles 12” walk. Unfortunately the weather turned really wet so we didn’t extend the walk any further.
Better weather saw us going up onto Silver How with Alfred Wainwright as our guide. Quite a hike uphill but worth it for the views, especially those down to Grasmere.
