I have been working away from home on a project near Chester for some time so one evening I took the opportunity to take some photos at Ewloe Castle which was built/extended in the 11th/12th centuries.

Brittany– May/June 2011
Long time no updates to the blog – big effort now to bring it up to date before I get a year behind!
Summer half term saw us popping over to France for a week. We stayed in a very clean and comfortable mobile home at Domaine des Ormes, Dol de Bretagne, Brittany. We booked the holiday through Canvas Holidays but (many) other travel agents have the campsite in their brochures/websites.
It was a very relaxing (lazy) holiday where we didn’t do much but had a good time.
Here’s some shots of the mobile home and the campsite:
Just a short walk from the campsite is the quiet little village of Saint-Léonard:
In the middle of the week we took a day trip out to visit a few places.
Menhir de Champ Dolent; a 9m tall megalithic monument or “menhir” located between the campsite and the nearest town: Dol-de-Bretagne.
Then we went on a little further north of Dol-de-Bretagne to Mont-Dol which had stunning views of the countryside on up to the coast.
Finally we took a drive, which took rather longer than I thought, to the end of the Cap Fréhel peninsular and a great walk along the rugged coastline there.
